Margi Weyers
Margi is from Hilton Head, where everyone has beautiful teeth. She was very sensitive about her smile. Her dental work consisted of patch work dentistry and did not follow a comprehensive plan. Her two front teeth were very different in size and shape. One had a chronic redness about it due to an allergic reaction to the base metal of the crown. Margi invested in a smile makeover. We cosmetically reshaped her gum tissue. All of her old fillings and crowns, though asymptomatic, had varying degrees of decay under them. Her new smile is not only beautiful, but healthy.
Todd Smith
Todd came to our office after years of suffering from back surgeries. The pain medications he was on caused dry mouth and ultimately decay. This damage was due to the dry mouth and not neglect. Todd worked in a high profile environment and was very self conscious regarding his smile. Todd was referred to me and felt that he was destined for dentures. Todd invested in his smile, health, and his self esteem. Todd felt much better about himself while in temporaries and was overjoyed with the final result. His treatment took one month his schedule was difficult to meet so several times we appointed him on weekends. Todd is now very confident in his smile, pleased that he saved his teeth, and is now attending a prestigious graduate program in finance. His new smile will serve him very well in the future.
Bob Sizelove
Bob is the kind of patient that the entire team enjoys, he always comes in with a smile on his face. One day Bob came in for a crown on an upper premolar. The procedure went well and he was very pleased with the results. Four months later Bob came in for a routine dental cleaning when Jane, our hygienist, found a dark angry lesion adjacent to his new crown. Bob said that the lesion bled but was not sore. My worst fear was a malignant melanoma. He was referred for a biopsy and the results came back positive for melanoma. We assisted him to the proper physicians and the lesion was removed. The medical center says that they had never seen an oral melanoma found so early. Usually a melanoma is terminal. Bob has completed all treatments and therapies, and now wears an obturator to eat, swallow, and speak. Cosmetically he looks the same. Bob is very happy with his new lease on life and realizes that had he not kept his hygiene appointment, he would not be here today. Bob is a testament that a dental cleaning can be life saving.
