Meet the Dentist

Born and raised in Richmond Virginia Dr. J. Stuart Oglesby received his B.A. in Biology from Wake Forest University, his Masters in Anatomy from Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Basic Sciences, and his D.D.S. degree from VCU’s School of Dentistry. After completing a general practice residency program at the Hampton V.A. Medical Center, Dr. Oglesby began private practice in Williamsburg Virginia in 1985.

Always one to question why some things work while others don’t, Dr. Oglesby never stops pursuing answers through on-going continuing education. As a graduate of the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, Dr. Oglesby is one of approximately 2% of dentists nationwide trained in the discipline of neuromuscular dentistry. This hands-on training gives Dr. Oglesby additional insight into how the entire system controlling the positioning and function of the jaw – the teeth, muscles, joints – work together to provide a harmonious relationship. From preventive care appointments to soft tissue management to major restorative needs, form and function go hand in hand.

In support of these basic elements to sound oral health, Dr. Oglesby continues to focus on additional coursework covering areas such as soft tissue management, non-surgical treatment of TMJ, functional orthodontics, implant dentistry, full mouth reconstruction, and oral conscious sedation.
