These dentists have listed 20 completed implant cases of minimum 12 months old, fully documented 5 of these cases, 75 hours of continuing education in the field of Implant Dentistry, and a letter of recommendation from a current ICOI Fellow or Diplomate. These dentists have a great understanding of Implant dentistry and great training.
This is level 4 of 4 level credentialing process in this organization. After the Fellowship is achieved, the next level is the Diplomate level. There are 2 portions to the examination, a written and a rotation through the implant case stations. To qualify to take the examination, either one has to be a graduate of an accredited Oral implantology program (a 3 year program), be practicing Implant dentistry for at least 5 years, along 10 cases to be submitted to the board, or a graduate of an accredited Oral implantology program (a 3 year program), have completed 2 of the 3 years and is recommended by the Dean of the program, or Be at least be practicing in the field of implant dentistry for 2 years, along with 4 cases to be submitted to the board. What does this mean to you? That this dentist has one of the highest levels of training and experience and has been approved by the highest level of trained dentists in this field.
