Omer K. Reed, D.D.S.
Dr. Reed maintains a thriving dental practice in Phoenix, Arizona. He is the originator of Napili seminars, workshops created in 1963 to enhance success in dentistry, socio-economically, intellectually and technically.
He is also the originator, of Pentegra, a consulting firm for health care professionals in regard to personal and practice development and enrichment, and of the Paradigm Group, a dental health care training facility.
The Napili/Pentegra philosophy has opened fresh thought horizons for personal, professional and economic enrichment. Their mission was; introducing, precipitating and facilitating growth and change for doctors and dental teams in the service of the people who come for care, presenting techniques, philosophies and skills to improve efficiency and production, and to enhance quality of service and increase personal satisfaction in dentistry.
Dr. Reed has served as Associate Professor of Ecologic Dentistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and as Adjunct Professor in the School of Dentistry at the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Reed was instrumental in the formation and fulfillment of the American Society for Preventive Dentistry, a group of preventive dental advocates who succeeded in creating awareness by the public and the soap companies of plaque and the other etiological agents associated with perio and caries.
He is the author of numerous articles for professional journals and has, for over thirty years, spoken to thousands of dentists facing a new era of professional and personal challenges. As a practicing dentist and health care management leader, he has addressed groups in South Africa, Sweden, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, England, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Egypt, Israel, Tanzania, Kenya, Finland, and Russia.
He is a frequent guest on national and local radio and television programs and has been the subject of numerous newspaper and magazine interviews.
Dr. Reed was honored with the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity Achievement Medal at the organization’s 92M annual international convention in San Francisco, December 30, 1999. He received Alpha Omega’s most prestigious award in recognition of “meritorious contributions to dentistry and its allied sciences.”
Born in Minot, North Dakota, Dr. Reed attended the University of Minnesota, graduating from the School of Dentistry in 1957. Upon graduation, he served two years at Amarillo Air Force Base. He and his wife, Marci, married in 1953 and will soon celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. They are parents of five children, grandparents of six.
Dr. Reed has served as a Regent at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, and at Dana College in Blair, Nebraska. He has served on the Board of Directors of Citizens for Decency through Law, Dakota Boys Ranch, the American Volunteer Medical Team, and now serves on the Board of several major insurance companies, Rowpar Pharmaceuticals, and was Chairman of the Board/Chief Dental Officer for a public company, Pentegra Dental Group Inc. He is the current Chairman of the Board for Ohana, a company promoting the philosophy of fee-for-service, private, personal care.
His past and present memberships include the Central Arizona Dental Society, the American Dental Association, American Academy of Dental Practice Administration, the Western Society of Periodontology, the American Society of Periodontology, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Federation Dentaire Internationale, the American Academy of Implantology, the Christian Dental/Medical Society and the
Confederate Air Force and Flying Dentists Association. He is the recipient of the Presidential Citation of the American Dental Association in 1992, and of the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Minnesota. He has been active in the Boy Scout organization, attained the Eagle Scout Award and the Order of the Silver Arrow.
