I have never experienced any doctor who has made me feel so valued. I never realized what was possible in dentistry until I met you. Your compassion and sincerity in ensuring my ultimate satisfaction are a rare find in this day and age.
You, Rhona and Angie are a gift from God. The final result is amazing. You have completely changed my life and I am grateful you have been delivered into my life.

Not many people can say they have absolutely no anxiety over going to the dentist, but I can! Thanks to you and your team for all the tender loving care over the years, and for spoiling me too!
Everyone should have such a great dentist to call their own.

Leah Sides, Peachtree City, Georgia
I just want to express my excitement with the result that Dr. Abeles and his team have done for me. Without a doubt I am happy. The dentist back home said I would need major surgery on my jaw and I wasn't prepared to do that.
I went on the internet and came across Dr. Abeles' site. The rest is history, as they say. Even after my first visit with Dr. Abeles I still didn't believe he would be able to help me. I was so wrong.
The experience is like nothing I have had in the past. I never thought this procedure would be so painless. It is safe to say I will never regret taking this very big step in my life. I just want to thank Dr. Abeles, Rhona and Angie for providing a service and smile I thought could never happen

It's hard to describe how thankful I am to be able to live pain free and enjoy the simple pleasures in life again. I hope someone will benefit from my story and realize there is an alternative to suffering.
In August 2003, I had major surgery and was restricted from any exercising, lifting or bending for 8 weeks. When I returned to work and began normal activities, I immediately began experiencing excruciating pain. The pain seemed to radiate from my left ear. Sometimes sharp, unbearable pains would shoot into my forehead, the back of my head, down my neck and along my jaw.
I had no idea what was causing my pain but I took ibuprofen and acetaminophen to try to alleviate my suffering. Unfortunately these meds did little to help. I soon began to have problems eating. I was not able to open my mouth as wide as normal. When I took a bite that required chewing, sharp pains would shoot from my left jaw into my head, ears and neck.
As time went on, my pain continued, increased in intensity and became more frequent. It was debilitating. I was missing more and more days from work. I was missing out on church events, family events, and more importantly, not being able to fully participate in my children's lives. Basically I was missing out on life!
I was taking four ibuprofen every four hours and I knew something was seriously wrong. I contacted an ear, nose and throat specialist. No help. I tried a pain clinic. No help. My regular dentist felt the disc in my left jaw was displaced and put me in a hard splint. Instead of helping, it caused my condition to deteriorate further. After wearing the splint for a few weeks I could only open my mouth about a half an inch.
My dentist did not have any other suggestions or solutions. He was not able to give me any hope of relief, much less a cure. It seemed no one could help me, but I continued to pray that somehow I would find relief. I had to find someone who specialized in TMJ.
I began searching the internet and truly believe it was not by chance that I came across Dr. Abeles' website. I was at the end of my rope physically and emotionally. It's hard to imagine how chronic pain can wear on you unless you live with this kind of debilitating pain. As I read the information about Dr. Abeles and what he did, I felt this information was posted just for my benefit! I knew I had to make an appointment immediately.
After six months of living in constant pain, I had my consultation with Dr. Abeles. He correctly diagnosed that my jaw was out of position. I began what I like to call my "healing" process and received my first orthotic. It did not take long for me to see positive results. Still, I wondered if there was a quicker, easier fix out there - surgery maybe? (I cannot begin why I even wanted that option, but I blame it on all the debilitating pain.)
Wanting a second opinion, I made an appointment with the Chief of Oral Surgery at one of the most reputable hospitals in Atlanta. He ordered an MRI and full cranial x-rays. He listened to my story along with Dr. Abeles' diagnosis and plan to get my jaw in a more comfortable position. Without hesitation, he said that surgery is rarely effective for TMJ and that Dr. Abeles' plan was exactly what I needed.
Of course, I immediately went back to Dr. Abeles and told them I was ready to continue the process. Dr. Abeles, Angie and his other staff members have always been there for me. They are knowledgeable, compassionate and genuinely concerned for my well-being. That first visit was over four years ago. The rest, as they say, is history.
I am happy to report that four years later, I am still well. I avoid steak and other "tough" foods, but that is a small price to pay to live pain free and get my life back.

What Dr. Abeles' Smile Design has meant to me: It has given me a confidence that I did not know I possessed. I'm delighted and excited about what life may hold for me now. What a joy!

For the last twenty-five years I have had sinus and ear pressure. I have undergone three surgeries, medications and allergy treatments. None of these helped me in the long term. Dr. Abeles' treatment for TMJ has truly helped control my pain and greatly reduce the medication needed.

The day I walked into your office I was in excruciating pain. I couldn't eat. I could not open my mouth wider than an inch. Even talking was painful. I had a jabbing pain along my jaw line down through my ear. I was in constant pain and even my sleep was fretful because of it.
I had tried my regular dentist. I tried my chiropracter. No one seemed to be able to help me. This had gone on for months and I was getting worse.
I felt and looked like I was a hundred years old. No one should have to live with pain like this constantly. I was devastated. When I felt like I could not go on... that's when I heard about you. I called your office and was seen right away.
That very first day I saw Dr. Abeles, Rhona and Angie and everyone was so caring. I left with a soft appliance to help relieve some of the pain. I wore the soft orthotic until my permanent one could be made. Each visit that I made, my bite was adjusted and I improved every day!
No one can describe or understand the pain that TMJ causes unless you have experienced it yourself. It is truly debilitating. I know if I had not heard about you and your special care, I would not be functioning today.
I want you to know how wonderful you and your staff are and how thankful I am! You are the very best. It's been six months... and I'm totally pain free!

Regina Bowen, Dallas, Georgia
I am so glad I found Dr. Abeles. I have told everyone about his and the staff's work ethic. "Pure perfection" are the words I use. It was well worth it. Thanks so much!

Unfortunately I was involved in a car accident recently and as a result my jaw began popping every time I opened my mouth. Sometimes my jaw would lock in a semi-closed position and it became sore and inflamed. The muscles on the side of my neck hurt and were tight. My back muscles "chimed in" too.
Sleep became disrupted because it was difficult to find a position that was comfortable anymore. This went on for months and I tried lots of painkillers but couldn't remedy the problem myself.
After about four months had passed, the pain and lack of sleep began to take their toll on me. I knew I needed help but I didn't know who to see. I began asking everyone I ran into if they knew a great doctor who could help me. Finally, another dentist referred me to Dr. Fred Abeles. This turned out to be one great referral.
He was able to resolve my pain and problems in just a few visits. I am now back to normal with no pain.
It's obvious to me that Dr. Abeles strives to have a unique level of care for his patients. He is the only doctor who has ever given me his home number just in case I had a problem after hours. It's not unusual for him to follow up by phone just to be sure I'm doing ok. He genuinely cares. I've never encountered anyone like him.
His support staff is equally amazing. Angie, Cindy and Rhona add so much to my visits. It's more like a reunion with old friends than a therapy appointment. I love them all and I'm confident that I'm receiving the finest care available anywhere.
