Dear Dr. Gyurina I just wanted you to know what a difference you and your staff have made in my life. In many ways you have given me a second change at having the kind of life I have always dreamed of. I use to feel to out of place when I was around people. Talking to people was difficult and I felt very self conscious. There are so many things that had happened in my life that lead me to not being able to take care of my teeth. I felt ashamed and embarrassed. The fear that kept me from getting help was very hard to over come. But it was the staff of Oak Park that helped me to overcome my fear and get the help I needed. The trauma in my life that led me to not take care of my teeth was overwhelming but your patience and the patience of Amy and all of the staff was what helped me to be able to take the steps that were necessary to make my dream come true. You all treated me with respect and compassion; you listened to what I said and were so helpful in making me feel empowered, which gave me the courage I needed to go forward. Now when I look in the mirror I feel so differently about myself. I feel like I can go anywhere and do anything. I know I am the same person I have always been, but now I have the confidence to take the chance to talk to people and do the things that I have always wanted to do. People have noticed my teeth but more than that they say I look so happy. It took a while for me to learn to smile with my mouth open and to be able to make eye contact at the same time. But now when I do it, I feel so much better and people have commented that I look so much happier. And I am happier. I'm thankful for a smile that doesn't embarrass me anymore. Old fillings and aging had created a dull and unattractive smile that could not be altered with a whitener. I've always noticed other people's teeth and wanted to have a beautiful, white smile. My desire led me to discuss with my dentist the process of having ceramic veneers. It first seemed a bit intimidating, but was well worth it! Dr. Jana Gyurina talked me through the process step by step leaving very little to fear. Today I have a smile that I've always wanted and one that makes me feel well kept and more attractive. Had I not trusted my dentist, I would never have been so adventurous.
